Best Walter Cronkite Memory: Narrator of Spaceship Earth

To kids of the 80′s lucky enough to get a trip to Disney World — the Happiest Place on Earth, for those who don’t know — you might have fond memories of Walter Cronkite as the narrator of Spaceship Earth, the centerpiece attraction at EPCOT Center.

Cronkite gave the ride, in which you travel through the history of communication, a warmth and gravitas the ride has not had since. Also, who can forget the ride’s theme song at that time, “Tomorrow’s Child.” I can’t! I’m thinking about it right now, and I’m just fine with that.

Oh, but let’s not forget that he also played opposite Robin Williams in the Animation attraction at MGM Studios.  Video below!

So much Disney / Cronkite greatness. I guess they were in sync, since they’re both named Walt and all.
