“It’s been a long, long ride to get to Planet 51, which opens in theaters tomorrow. Since 2002, Illion Animation Studios has been perfecting their first feature length animated movie for theaters. Seven years of re-writing, re-recording and re-animating later, they finally launched their film into theaters, but will it be a smooth landing with audiences?”

The Riverdale gang gets ultra-patriotic in this astoundingly poorly animated cartoon series from the 70's.

What day could be more Patriotic than Memorial Day… besides Veteran’s Day and the Fourth of July? You know what, don’t answer that. Memorial Day is very patriotic – end of sentence.

Anyway, celebrate your long weekend America-style with these ridiculous clips from US of Archie. During the 70′s, centennial fever and Archie malaria both spread across the nation, culminating in the cartoon series “The US of Archie.” You might notice the same band animations get repeated over and over again – that’s a metaphor Filmation built into the series, to represent how time and again America must re-engage in military conflicts, in order to keep the world at peace.

Many genres of music, one awesome theme song. Don't run from this, even if you hear "scat!"

Feeling a little nostalgic after yesterday’s Dana Carvey Show post, so without further ado, here’s a classic Cartoon Network short to round out the week. It’s the Josie and the Pussycats theme song redone as punk, disco, hair metal and more. They’re everywhere the action’s at!

Letter Matrix is like Tetris meets Scrabble on my iPhone... and I can't stop playing it!

Generally, iPhone games are time wasters while I’m stuck in a waiting room or having to listen to someone talk to me. Games I enjoy are Cube Runner (which reminds me of the old school Mac game Spectre), PapiJump and the elegant Crayon Physics. However, it took someone pretty genius to combine Scrabble and Tetris into one addicting game.

Letter Matrix is made by USA Network, which has branched out into the casual games market via their Character Arcade. I’m not entirely sure why — isn’t making Monk enough for those people? Well, thankfully it’s not, because this game’s a lot of fun. Essentially, letters fall down and create stacks. Click on the letters and form words, which make the letters disappear. If you’re too slow, the stacks pile up and you lose.

Sounds simple, but like many of the greatest games, it’s difficult to master. You have to think and press buttons very quickly. It took me a few tries before I got the hang of it, and now I’m on my iPhone constantly trying to top my last score. So far, it’s more addictive than anything I’ve played on the DS, but to be fair, I’m a big Scrabblehead.

What’s the most addictive portable game you’ve ever played?
