Yowza, it’s a new year, and a new time for an update on what’s new!

DID I MENTION NEW?!

First of all, there was a loverly interview with me at Write On last month, where I discuss The Devastator, writing for different mediums and getting drunk with the former WB mascot.

The Devastator: My quarterly comedy magazine continues to devastate all in its path. We went to the Alternative Press Expo last year, and this year we’ll be exhibiting at Comic-Con and WonderCon. Wired did a super cool feature on us, and we did an interview with Robot 6 (Comic Book Resources) about stuff we cut from Devastator #1 and print humor groupies. Oh, and we released this animated video about Tetris:

…which has been featured on G4, The Escapist, Go Nintendo and Siliconera.

Leetstreet Boys: The adventures continue with an epic spooky mystery story, a new rival band appearing on the scene and the current story that’ll take Rose on an adventure through the Nintendoverse. Also, I love writing the word “Nintendoverse.”

Screen Junkies: I’m excited to join the entertainment blogging team at Screen Junkies, starting next week, where I’ll be covering TV and movie stuffs. Keeping my fingers crossed for some screeners, so I don’t have to pay $24.50 for the next Big Momma’s House movie in 3D.

At the end of last year, I wrote the American version of the animated movie Aachi & Ssipak, which should be released later this year. I’ll let you know when it’s out. I’m also working on a hush-hush video game project and a few even secreter things. Shh!

The Devastator: I successfully fundraised, co-founded, and am now Editor In Chief of a new quarterly humor book series called The Devastator! It features both renowned and upcoming writers and artists from The Daily Show, The Simpsons, Onion News Network, Cracked, Funny or Die, McSweeney’s, DC Comics and more. Volume one was released this summer and wrestles with a mega beast of pop culture: Cartoons!

Leetstreet Boys: Now more epic than ever! This month, we’re kicking-off a spooky, 2-month-long  webcomic story, where the band must figure out the identity of the mysterious The Fanboy of the Opera… because their lives will depend on it!

This Very Website: I brushed off some cobwebs and updated pretty much all the sections. Woo hoo!

As we speak, I’m finishing a super-huge project that should be released later this year. Looking forward to telling you more about it soon. In the meantime, thanks for reading this thing I just wrote!

For a few months now, I’ve been dropping hints about a major project I’ve been working on.  It’s now revealed!  *GASP*

The Devastator is a quarterly book of comics and satire, collecting work from upcoming and well-established writers and artists.  Our first book is about cartoons, and features contributions from James Urbaniak (The Venture Bros), Todd Alcott (Antz), David Malki ! (Wondermark) and R. Sikoryak (Masterpiece Comics).  We just started fundraising yesterday on Kickstarter to support the first print run and already we’re over 20% of the way there!  Here’s an updated widget with our current progress:

The animation super-site Lineboil asked me to weigh-in on the upcoming Oscars, especially the Best Animated Feature award.  I wrote them a funny chart, which editor Aaron Simpson spruced up with some nifty graphic design.  Here’s my take on Up, Coraline, Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Princess and The Frog, and the Irish one nobody’s seen or heard of.

I’m writing a new arc for the Leetstreet Boys webcomic, where Rose looks for true love at an anime convention.  What makes this story special?  Well, for one, Justin’s awesome camouflage.

I will also be a contributor to GeekWeek, a cool new site that brings all the nerd universes together: comics, video games, pro-wrestling and more.  So far, I toured visitors through the freak show that is obsolete video formats and kicked off a regular series where I look at the hilariously weird clips from each week’s RAW and Smackdown.

Also putting the finishing touches on maybe my most ambitious project to date: a collaboration of comedy writers and cartoonists that will be ready for unveiling next month.  I can’t wait to tell you what it is and who’s involved.  You’ll plotz.  Thaddeus J. Plotz?  Perhaps.
